cap fall for SAM ILA website

SAM-ILA

In 2017, the SAM Board of Director’s split the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine into two sister organizations as a way to better serve our memberships needs. Because we are involved in so many political battles, including referendums, lobbying at the State House and candidate endorsements during elections, the board established Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine – Institute for Legislative Action (SAM-ILA), according to Internal Revenue Service rules. With a C-4 designation, SAM-ILA will be less restricted and will be able to have more of an impact in Augusta and at the ballot box.

Because we are expanding our work in all areas, the creation of the new SAM-ILA organization enables us to defend the rights of sportsmen, whenever the need arises and without restriction.

GENERAL PURPOSE:  The Corporation is organized and operated for the purpose of preserving Maine’s Outdoor Heritage, including but not limited to hunting, fishing, trapping, and 2nd Amendment rights and will work within the meaning of 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (as amended) or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue law including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations which are recognized as exempt from tax under such 501(c)(4).
